St. John is one of three United States Virgin Islands (USVI), which also includes St. Thomas and St. Croix. The smallest of the trio, it covers 19.6 square miles with a population of fewer than 5,000 residents. Affectionately nicknamed “Love City,” St. John has long been known as a friendly and generous community. Approximately 7,000 of the 12,500 total acres of the island are protected by the Virgin Islands National Park. The land was donated in 1956 by Lawrence Rockefeller’s foundation, the Jackson Hole Preserve, guaranteeing it will always remain pristine and mostly undeveloped.
